Culebra Ferry
If you decide to take the ferry, the hours of operation are fairly convenient and they run daily, including holidays and weekends. You may telephone 787-863-0705 or 787-863-085(Fajardo), 787-742-3161 (Culebra) for reservation. There is no guarantee that you will get to speak with someone when you call as these calls occasionally go unanswered, for whatever reasons. For those familiar with the ferry operations, you'll recall that there was a ferry service between Culebra and its sister island, Vieques; that service has now been cancelled. There is no longer a service between Vieques and Culebra. Fajardo is on the eastern part of Puerto Rico, easily accessible from San Juan by rental car. A secured parking area is (there is a charge) located conveniently on the right just before the ferry terminal. As is the case here in Puerto Rico during the holidays and the summer months, the ferry can be packed with vacationers making their way to Culebra. If you are going to board from Fajardo during the busy times mentioned, it is recommended that you get to the dock at least one hour ahead of your departure time. For passengers, the cost is $2.25 one way, and $4.50 round trip. There is a varying charge for vehicles depending on size.
